English Language Challenges

I was very excited at first to take english. I was able to go straight to the fourth level because I did well on the enlglish test before getting into college. It was very sad that i took this subject online, I would have loved to take it as an in-person class, but it just wasn't the case. With that said, I think the teacher was very nice, she always though about us as HUMAN BEINGS and students that have other things to do. I was very glad for that because it would have been terrible if the teacher was the kind of person that thinks his subject is the only one in the whole school (I took 8 subjects this semester so I was very scared for that) but I was so lucky and happy that I had a very good time.  For medical reasons, I wasn't able to go to every class, also, I started to have in-person class of a subject that I have at thursday in the morning, so it was almost always impossible to me to get to my house and arrive at the time of the class.  About the use of the blog, I thin

Changes to the study program

I am, right now, studying third year of journalism at Universidad de Chile, but it feels like I have been at this college for, like, eight years. I am actually tired of this and the only thing I really want to do is finish this whole process. But of course, I still have, at least, three more years to go.  As I have been here for this long, I think I can say that the course has its positives and negatives. I’m gonna focus on some things I think can change in our Journalism School.  I think one of the things that is missing in this course are more practices: the working environment in journalism can be tough sometimes, and only one practice in the whole career is very little and I think it won’t make us be really prepared for the reality of the profession.  In other ways, I think the are serious failures in our curriculum related to english. I don't know if the solution is to have more english subjects (english 5/6/7) or take the ones that already exist and make those more complex. B

Time Travel to the future

Imagen
My perspective on the future of this planet is very negative. I think that it's way more certain that the human race will destroy most part of themselves slowly and painfully instead of saving themselves: we can already see that, with the amount of changes in the environment that we caused. That is why I would not like to travel to the future, at least not in the next one hundred years, or more.  I think that at some point, most part of us will die and just some of us will survive. After that, human race will have to be able to start again at some point. What some people suggest is that the salvation of human race is not in saving the earth, but going to space and living on other planet, like Mars (that sounds quite similar to a certain book I read...). I think that could happen at some point, but people can't deceive themselves: only a few will be able to travel to Mars, because it is and will continue to be for a long time a very, very expensive traveling, only for the rich

My future job

When I watched "The Devil Wears Prada" for the first time being six years old, I knew I loved fashion world and that it would be an industry I would love to work on because of the glamour, and for me, fashion is not only about wearing some clothes. It has a lot to do with inspiration, personal style and who you want to be. Over the years, my personal decisions and talents took me to the journalism world, which can be a very wide industry itself and, depending on the kind of specialization one wants to go for, the opportunities are almost countless. In my case, I would love to specialize on fashion journalism: how to make an editorial and work for magazines, etc. I imagine this job as being very challenging and definitely not an office job, but a very outdoor job that implies a lot of traveling and very dynamic, where things can change very fast, but with a lot of pressure too. That's also why, as I've said before, the major I want to go for is fashion Journalism on th

My Favorite TV Show

Imagen
WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS OF PEAKY BLINDERS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rEb5wACbG0&ab_channel=Snapfetch  "I almost had everything" Definitely, my favorite TV show is Peaky Blinders. I learned about it because some friends were watching it years ago and I thought: OK, I will watch it too, just because...But then I absolutely loved it! Everything about the series caught my attention in no time.  The series is about a family of gangsters from the 1920's. The protagonist is Thomas Shelby, who recently came back from World War I being severely traumatized and with the mission of  leading the family business, that has been managed for years by the Shelby women: aunt Polly, a 60-something years old woman that becomes the main counselor for Tomy; and Ada Shelby, the youngest of four siblings and the only sister who doesn't want to be involved with the family and leaves with a communist activist.  Their business is mainly racehorse betting, but with the time it start

A person that I would love to meet

Imagen
The person I would love to meet in real life is Emma Watson. She became famous with her acting on the Harry Potter saga; she's thirty one years old and was born in Paris, but her nationality is British. She became an actress at an early age, when she was eleven years old. Emma is a very intelligent woman and very down to earth. Actually, she never liked being famous and is very catious about her private life.  At school, she was one of the best in her class and finished high school with only A grades. She was able to get in to Brown University in 2009; although she had to leave it for a few years (because of the Harry Potter movies) Emma graduated in 2014 with a bachelor degree in english literature.  Watson has proclaimed several times that is a feminist and an ambassador of several brands that care about that subject; she has been one of the main voices of the HerForShe movement, which is a campaign of the UN women institution.  One of the things that I admire the most about her

Songs and memories that make me nostalgic

Imagen
There are two songs I could think about when it comes to memories... I don't think they are exactly about moments, they are more about the feelings that I had in that time.  The first song is "We'll be coming back" from Calvin Harris. It reminds me of mid-2014, I was very young and I listened to a lot of EDM (Electronic Dance Music) at that time; I loved Calvin Harris and I had a very good friend at that time that also loved edm. Our favorite thing to do was to listen to it at school, or in our way home. It was an uncomplicated time, I didn't have many real issues in life, but as a teenager, I still thought that I had so many problems. I can't remember if I really had them, but I miss those times and treasure them in my mind. The second song is "Young dumb and broke" by Khalid. This song was launched weeks before I left high school, so it reminds me of that time; also, the lyrics are about two people that were at high school. Me and my friends though
